Bill G. Poynter

Poynter, Bill G., age 79, of Middletown, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 at Atrium Medical Center. He was born June 20, 1938 in Three Point, KY to Vera J. (Reed) and Fredrick G. Poynter. He loved to play baseball and go bowling, he coached his children’s youth sports teams throughout their lives, he was a volunteer firefighter for LeSourdesville fire department, and he lived for Ohio State Football and UK Basketball. Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda (Jestice) Poynter; Children, Elizabeth (Gil) Benson and John W. Poynter; Sister, Lois (Walter) Strohm; Niece, Heather (Matt) Lyons; Sister-in-Law, Barbara Gray; Nephews, Denny (Lisa) Gray and Paul (Laura) Gray; Great-Nieces, Renee Lyons, Rachel Gray, Erica Gray, Casey Gray; Great-Nephews, Owen Lyons, Zane Gray and lots of cousins. Bill is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 9:30-11:00 am and a service will follow at 11:00 am with Reverend Tracey Siegman officiating, at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Ave. Middletown, OH 45005. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, 4520 Rosedale Rd. Middletown, OH 45042 in memory of Bill.
