JAMES M. COCKERHAM, age 93, passed away at his home on Friday, February 16, 2018. Mr. Cockerham was born on August 6, 1924 in Campton, KY to Henry Clay and Carrie (Kidd) Cockerham. He married Della (Hollon) Cockerham on October 10, 1942 and they shared 56 years of marriage until her death in 1998. He retired from General Motors in 1986 after 33 years. James was a minister of the Church of Christ for 56 years and was a member of Middletown Church of Christ. James was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Elzie, Carl, Sterling, Forrest and Billy Howard; one sister, Ruby Lawson; and one daughter, Linda Spencer. He is survived by his children, Carrie (Ron) Phillips of Indianapolis, IN; Brenda Gabbard of Middletown, OH; Virgie (Clyde) Sharrett of Camden, OH; Joyce (Ray) Wilder of Middletown, OH; James (Nancy) Cockerham of Lexington, NC; Barbara Caudill of San Diego, CA and Debra Cockerham of Middletown, OH; 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Wright of Middletown, OH and one brother, Henry Cockerham of Franklin, OH and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 19th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home at 1500 Manchester Ave., Middletown, OH 45042. The funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 20th at 2:00 pm at the funeral home on Manchester Ave. Interment will follow at Woodside Cemetery. The family would like to thank Hospice of Dayton for the wonderful care that they provided for James.
