Akers, Jess H., age 86, of Middletown, passed away February 23, 2018 at Hospice Care of Middletown. Born on March 2, 1931 in Miamisburg, Ohio. Jess was the son of the late Jess H. Sr. and Nora Lee (Toler) Akers. Two brothers, Eugene and Boyd (Butch) Akers preceded him in death. Jess is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley (Shepherd) Akers, and four children, Darryl Akers, Greg Akers, Michelle (Eric) Fernandez, Erin Campbell, mother-in-law, Pauline Stoermer, and grandchildren, Kayla and Dylan Akers, Chase and Blake Fernandez, Christian, Brooke and Faith Akers, Roslyn and Dillon Campbell and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include his best buddy and brother-in-law, Don L. (Donna) Shepherd, sister-in-law, Robyn Riva, nieces, Heather (Jared) Behler, Leah (Wesley) Garcia, and nephew, Aaron Shepherd. Jess was a contractor by trade, sold real estate, and retired from the Department of Energy in 1994. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, woodcrafts, and using his talents to customize his children’s homes, but his greatest joy was simply being with his family. Jess will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He is now in the presence of his Heavenly Father. Visitation will be held Monday, February 26, 2018 from 11:00-1:00 pm at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Avenue, Middletown, Ohio 45005, followed by the funeral at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Don L. Shepherd officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Ohio with honor guard service by Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
