Antonia Monson

October 12, 1942 ~ April 22, 2024 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Obituary

Antonia Monson entered heaven peacefully on April 22, 2024. She was born in New York City, NY and
always was a proud New Yorker. She was predeceased by her parents Chiara Moro Della Vecchia and
Anthony Della Vecchia, her husband Bernard Monson, and James Maguire, her spouse of 24 years and
father of her children.

She earned a bachelor's degree in Business Education from Pace University and a Masters degree in
special education from Hofstra University. Her work with students with disabilities both in and out of the
classroom was inspiring and she helped the lives of many with her kindness and dedication.
Mimi, as she was affectionately referred to by her family, loved movies, music, and art, and believed in
celebrating the special moments of life. No matter the accomplishment she wanted to recognize her
family for their achievements and milestones. Whether it was graduating from college, buying a car or
getting a new job, her children and grandchildren knew that Grandma Toni was their biggest cheerleader.
She especially loved holidays and birthdays, and will always be remembered for the beautiful baskets she
created and the decorations inside and outside her home.

Her greatest accomplishments and joy were her children and grandchildren. She always said that her
most important achievement was being a mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her
children Marjorie FitzGibbon (Tom), James Maguire (Maureen), Eileen Watkins (Mike) and Daniel
Maguire (Mio). She fiercely loved her grandchildren: TJ, Matt and Sean FitzGibbon, Melissa Petrella
(Robert), Dara and James Maguire, Nick, Peter and Ryleigh Clemmons and Chiara and Robert Maguire.
She delighted in her great grandson James Maguire.

She had a very close relationship with her sisters Rose Marino and Maria Restieri, and had fond
memories of spending summers together in the Hamptons with their families. If you knew Antonia, you
knew she was a twin. She told everyone about her twin brother Michael Della Vecchia (Shirley) and
proudly displayed photos of them together through the years. She was loved by her step grandchildren
(Jacob, Alex and Thomas Watkins) and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Butler County Ohio Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
She was so proud of her daughter and son-in-law’s mission to help children in need.
