David A. Shadoan, PE, age 81, of Franklin, OH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct 22, 2017, at his residence and surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on August 28, 1936 in Somerset, KY, son to H.A. and Bernice Shadoan.  Dave served our country in the US Air Force and worked at Wright-Patterson AFB and GE Aircraft as a young engineering intern.  As a professional engineer, he spent the next 54 years working in the profession he loved, was licensed in 8 states, and was a licensed commercial contractor in Florida.  He served as Director of Engineering for both Armco Building Systems and Datel Engineering and retired from each of the companies before opening a private consulting firm, DAS Engineering.  Dave served as past President of the Optimist Club in Baltimore, MD; served on the Board of Directors for Wildwood Golf Club; and played Varsity football and baseball at Somerset HS where he was also initiated into the National Honor Society, graduating in 1954.  He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and Beta Epsilon Phi (Academic Honors Fraternity) at the University of Kentucky.  Dave graduated with Honors in Engineering from the University of Dayton in 1961.  We will always remember him for his avid passion of all things mechanical and his brilliant mind in math, physics, and science.  Above all, Dave was a man with a strong ethical and moral center and will be remembered for his honor, integrity, and loyalty. Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Jo Ann (New) Shadoan; the two sons that he proudly adored - Michael David and Brent Scott (Molly); grandsons - Matthew Scott, Timothy David, John William, and Michael Owen; brothers - Gordon Douglas (Gunilla), Benny Wayne (Christine), and Harry Brent (Sheila-deceased).  He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Halsey Andrew & Anna Bernice (Chitwood), as well as a wonderful sister-in-law, Sheila.  ” will be held on Sunday, Nov 5, 2017, 2:00 PM, at Wildwood Golf Club, 601 Aberdeen Drive, Middletown, OH, 45042.  A Reception will follow the Remembrance Service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH, 45429.  Condolences may be sent to the family in care of Wildwood Golf Club.
