George C. Earls

September 19, 1946 ~ November 28, 2018 (age 72)

EARLS, George Caleb (1946-2018)
Age 72, of Middletown, Ohio passed away November 28, 2018. He was born September 19, 1946 in Batesville, Indiana. A graduate of Madison High School in 1964. George served in the Army (1st Cavalry Division) in Germany before heading to Vietnam where he earned Bronze and Silver Stars for valor in combat. He retired from Armco/AK Steel in 2003 having worked in Tubing, East Processing and Mobile Maintenance Planning. George was active in the community as Past Master of the George M. Verity Masonic Lodge, Antioch Shrine member, Middletown High School Athletic Booster Club, Armco Assoc. Park Board of Directors and Co-Chair of All American Weekend ’89. He was a very proud grandfather, patriot and avid Buckeye fan. Preceding him in death were his parents, Rev. M.O. and Velma Earls, brother Maynard D. Earls and sister Cheryl Hale. He is survived by his sons G. Christopher Earls (Amie) and Benjamin C. (Julie) Earls and five grandchildren: Ellie, Carter, Evie, Avery and Graham. He is also survived by two brothers: Denvis (Linda) Earls, Michael (Nancy) Earls and one sister Lois Oligee (Earls), sister-in-law Kim Earls along with many beloved nieces and nephews. To many, George was better known as “Big Daddy”, a nickname that suited him in stature and heart. George was a big softie with a hard outer shell. He could be tender and kind, which made him a wonderful listener and someone that was easy to relate to. He had the ability to comfort you and make you laugh all at the same time. He had a generous spirit and the gifts and memories he gave are treasures that will last a lifetime. His sense of humor, blunt honesty and big teddy bear hugs will be truly missed. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 3pm with receiving hours beginning at 1pm at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Avenue, Middletown, OH 45005.
