Geraldine Dishun

Geraldine “Gerri” Dishun, 76, of Monroe, passed away Thursday morning, May 20, 2021, at her residence, after a long six year battle with Alzheimer’s. Gerri was born on March 24, 1945, in Middletown, Ohio, the eighth of ten children, to Albert & Lena Rebecca (Murray) Byrd. Gerri graduated from Monroe High School, Class of 1963. She worked doing bookkeeping for The Barbour Company, accounting for Sulzer-Escher Wyss and was Secretary to the Vice President of Operations for Ramsey Business Interiors. She held various other jobs that included managing the kitchen at a local golf club, and working as a nurse’s aide, but by far, her life’s joy came from caring for her home and her family, and raising her boys. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Samuel Dishun; her sons, Jeffery Shields, Cary (Cheri) Shields, and David Dishun; her grandchildren, Jeffery II, Amanda, Adria, and Alena Shields; her great-grandchildren, Jeffery III and Travis Shields; her 2 brothers, Jim (Francis) and Roger (Natalie) Byrd; her sister, Pat Furrow; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Albert Jr. (Charlie), Richard (Dick), Floyd and Allen; 2 sisters, Mary (Jenny) and Jean; her sister-in-law, Jackie; 2 nieces, Cindy and Lisa; and nephew, Patrick. Visitation will be on Monday, May 24th from 6-8:00 pm at the Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Avenue in Middletown with Funeral Services also at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 25th at 10:00 am.
