Joan Marie Waite

Joan Marie (Halbleib) Waite, age 66 passed away at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties on September 16, 2021. Joan Marie Halbleib was born in Harrisburg, PA to James Halbleib and Veronica Bennett both of Harrisburg, PA. Joan grew up at 3203 Hillside St, Harrisburg and attended Saint Margaret Mary Elementary School and Bishop McDevitt High School. She married David William Waite, her high school sweetheart, on September 23, 1972. David enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in October, 1972 and while on Christmas leave in Harrisburg, Joan gave birth to their first child Theresa Joan. They moved to Dover, DE in April, 1973 and Joan delivered their second daughter, Tammy Marie. They traveled together to many States and Countries during David’s 20 year military career, most notably Alaska, Spain, Italy, and many ski vacations to Germany. Their final assignment was to NORAD in Colorado Springs, CO where Joan began her search for a job not that her children were old enough to require less constant parenting. She was hired as an office manager at the Pikes Peak Mental Health Center. She then was hired by BlueCross/Blue Shield of Colorado as an enrollment and billing specialist. She then was hired by PacifiCare Health Systems as Manager of Enrollment and Billing. She then began her quest of a college education and obtained the BS degree in Business Solutions followed by a MBA in Business Systems Applications both from the University of Phoenix. She accepted the position of Senior Business Consultant with the Trizetto Group in 2009 and truly enjoyed helping clients solve their computer design and process problems. She was forced to resign and go on long term disability with her medical diagnosis of stage 4 cancer. At which time she decided to devote her remaining time exclusively with her family. Joan is survived by her husband of 49 years, David, daughter; Theresa (Roger) Alicea, of Middletown, Ohio, grandsons; Logan Alicea and Jacob Alicea, daughter; Tammy Delauder and Richard Miller of Monument, CO, grandsons Aiden DeLauder and Zeke Barbour, siblings; John Halbleib of Lamont, IL, Eleanor Halbleib of Clarksburg, MD, Jean Halbleib of Harrisburg, PA, Mary Magaro of Harrisburg, PA, Jerome Michael Halbleib of Birmingham, AL, Dorothy Rosenberry of Fulton, DC, and Robert Halbleib of Hughesville, MD. She is preceded in death by her father; James Halbleib of Harrisburg, mother, Veronica Bennett of Harrisburg, PA , sister Veronica Matio of Harrisburg, PA, brother, James Halbleib of San Francisco, CA and twin brother, Joseph Halbleib of Harrisburg, PA. Services are in the care of Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home. No arrangements at this time.
