I will remember Mike as a friend and colleague from many, many years, dating back to the Dayton Extruded days. He was a good friend and always enjoyed catching up with him when back in Ohio. Prayers to Mike's family .

This world has lost a nugget of gold but heaven has a new star.
Over the past nearly 30 years of working closely with Mike, I came to appreciate his special talents. Together we designed and developed many new products that today form the foundation of the company where we both worked for all those years. No designer was every more thorough or more detail driven than Mike. His methodical approach is legendary. He will be missed. Whether we were designing the 'next big thing' or talking about our shared hobby of the shooting sports or reflecting on family or spiritual matters, we always enjoyed a positive conversation.
This past Saturday, 4 of us from Deceuninck drove to Cleveland to see our friend Mike. From the moment we entered his room until we departed Mike never stopped smiling the biggest smile I have ever seen. His calmness and spiritual confidence was reassuring and comforting to all of us. Mike remembered names and details of events that the rest of us had long forgotten. After an hour or so of sharing and laughing through some of the high-lights of almost 30 years of work and life experiences, we figured we better let Mike rest as he was noticeably wore out from the laughing. We prayed with Mike and then said good bye to a beloved colleague...not knowing that he was so soon to depart.
Yesterday I went to his office and sat down at his desk in his chair. Every item was precisely located and exactly positioned just as Mike left it the last time he sat in this same chair. Every sample part, every pencil, notepad and folder were meticulously 'square, plumb and level'. Of course, Mike always kept everything in his work space precisely neat, orderly and exactly located. However this time it was different. This time, as I took a few minutes to look closely at the collection of pictures. The same pictures that I had seen many times before but now I saw something different. From baby, to little girl to beautiful young woman, the photos of his dear Sarah clearly reflected a special bond between father and daughter. We all have watched his baby girl grow up in these pictures and tracked Sarah's progress as Mike shared his fatherly perspective on the joys and pains of watching his little baby grow up.
To Julie (who I only met during our Saturday visit in Cleveland) and Sarah (who I have never met in person) please know that Mike was a significant contributor to the success of Deceuninck and know that Mike's work lives on in the hundreds of parts that he designed over the years. He will be missed by those who knew him well and by those who only knew him through his work, but will be missed by all.
May God's supernatural peace settle upon you as you take comfort in knowing that Mike was a great man and that he did not leave any regrets with his work or with any of us who worked with him.
We grew to love him as a dear friend.
