Robert Lee Hollar "Sarge"

Robert Lee Hollar “Sarge”, 85, passed away at Otterbein Middletown after a long health battle on Monday, April 15, 2024. He was born December 10, 1938, in Middletown where he lived most of his life. Robert was known by many names such as Bob, Dad, Papaw, and Sarge.  He retired from security at AK Steel after 30 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Edna Hollar (nee Blevins) and wives Margie, Louise, and Karen; brothers, Tommy, Bill, and Bud; stepdaughter Cricket and special friend Gerry Cook.  He is survived by his children, Patti (Mike) McGlothen, Cami (Bob) Walton, Debbie, Robert (Anica) Hollar, Wanda, Susie, Stepdaughter Rachel, eight sisters, Betty Ballard, Shirley Martin, Brenda (Earshel) Philpot, Mary Sue Hatfield, Kay (Rusty) Ferguson, Sandy Phillips, Jo (Julie) Hollar, and Linda (Jim) Adams. He leaves behind several grandchildren and great- grandchildren.  He also leaves behind numerous friends: Dawn, Grace, Michelle, Joe, and Carl to name a few. Robert was a US Army Airborne veteran. He enjoyed golfing regularly and cherished his time and friends at the mill. Robert was an avid storyteller, and he had a great sense of humor.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to a charity of one’s choice in honor and memory of Robert. 

Visitation is Friday, April 19, 2024, from 5:00PM – 8:00 PM at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Ave., Middletown, Ohio 45005. His wishes were to be cremated with a private service held at a later date.
