Manley, Vernon “Scottie”, 96 of Middletown passed away on Friday, June 11th at his residence. He was born on October 1, 1924 in Sharpsburg, KY to Otto Everett & Nellie Francis (Hawkins) Manley. Scottie served our country in the US Army during WW II and worked for the City of Middletown in signals and alarms and was a mechanic for them for over 20 years until his retirement. He formerly attended both Towne Blvd. Church of God and Monroe First Church of God, but most recently had attended Amanda Community Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 218 in Middletown. Scottie is survived by his children, Sue Campbell of Mt. Sterling, KY, Bill (Janet) Manley of Lebanon, OH, Bob (Donna) Manley of Middletown, Danny (Pam) Manley of Middletown and Melody Emerson of Middletown; his 12 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; Brothers, Doug & Everett Manley of Mt. Sterling, KY and sisters, Joan Romer of Ashland, KY, Jean Little and Janice Williams both of Mt. Sterling, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eloise Manley; infant daughter, Mary Jo Manley; grandchildren, Nicholas E. and Bryan Scott Manley and Sheena Murphy; son-in-law, James D. Campbell; brothers, Woody, Addison and Jimmy Manley and sisters, Faye Henderson and Billie Castle. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 16th from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Avenue with Funeral Services to follow also at the Funeral Home at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bob Manley officiating.
